Oh come now, tell me you don't secretly harbour a desire to look like our little doll-y friend, just for one day. Especially when it means looking as dazzling as the models did on the runway for the celebration of Barbie's 50th birthday at New York fashion week last night,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], resplendent with their Stila Barbie collection makeup and 23 kilos of hairspray.
What a dingin' parade. So cool. Fifty designers each created a piece each for the parade, to celebrate Barbie turning a half-century. (She looks AMAZING for 50. Might be just me,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but I'm pretty sure she's had some plastic surgery Here's a link so you can watch it in all its pink glory.
The makeup artist leading the charge was the wonderful (and massively busy for the whole show season) Charlotte Tilbury,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and there were three key looks: Barbie of the past,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Barbie of the now and Barbie of the future. This fits in beautifully, of course,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], with the launch of Stila loves Barbie™ "Decades of Beauty™ Cans" filled with Stila makeup Barbie™ to create five beauty looks that Barbie herself would've worn over the last 50 years. Each little 'can' has two eyeshadows and a cheek colour/bronzer,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as well as a lip product, and a mascara or liner. They retail for $89 bucks and if you loved the Barbie™ MAC collection in 2007,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], you will probably already have your sneakers on, ready to scream into Mecca next Monday to suss Barbie's latest makeup collaboration.
Here is one of the four collections,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the Jewel collection,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which is meant to represent Barbie way back in the year 2000, when she was still sans BlackBerry and ghd. Adorable.
My favourite was the Victoria's Secret-style hair and makeup of the present: black liner, a wash of shimmery pink on the eyes, gleaming lips and cheeks,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], all with pink and purple accents. So pretty. So feminine. So fun. (For the present pick up Stila's Illuminating Liquid Foundation,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], All Over Shimmer, and Malibu lip Glaze.)
Here is Barbie of the past, with her lush glossy red lips and black-lined eyes and kooky-secretary glasses. (Get the look with Stila's liquid eyeliner,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], lots and lots of mascara,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Dominique lipstick and Strawberry Lip Glaze.)
And then there was Lil Miss Jetson Barbie, direct from future. (Or maybe the moon.) I love this look, too. Kind of KISS meets a disco peacock.
Your best chance of getting this look is with a lot of time, a steady hand and Glitter Eyeliner in Purple Silver,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and the eyeshadow palette from the Jewel Doll Decades of Beauty can.
