The last 5.5 miles of the run are in the Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area. Some of the land is private and posted. Do not land or stop for lunch on private land. Some of the rapids can be scouted during the shuttle. The rapids 0.3 mile above the take-out is the most difficult; scout or portage river left.
