CMW,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], in conjunction with the experimental music series Ctrl+Alt+Repeat,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], will present a concert in commemoration of the John Cage Centennial on Friday,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 23. The evening will feature some of Cage works for strings,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], voice (sung and spoken),[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], percussion, and electronics,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], realized by local musicians,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the CMW Players,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and students in CMW Media Lab.
The program includes performance of for a Man with a Twelve-Tone Name Katherine Bergeron,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], who gave its premiere in 1983 at Wesleyan University. Also on this program are two of Cage "number pieces" written in the last six years of Cage life: for three percussionists and for string quartet,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], performed by the CMW players. Also featured is Music performed by Mark Cetilia,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and selections from Cage Books and New Aspects of Form in Instrumental and Electronic Music performed simultaneously by CMW students and local composer Forrest Larson.
The evening will culminate in a performance of Cage 99 Chicago-based composer Nomi Epstein,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a piece invites the audience to contemplate excerpt from Cage writing "On Robert Rauschenberg,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Artist,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and His Work" (from 1961). Come play a part in an eclectic evening of music and celebrate the 100th birth year of one of the most original thinkers of the 20th century!

I knew John quite well during the 60 and 70 when I played for Merce dance classes. John and Rauschenberg,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], David Tudor and others came to our campsite hunting mushrooms in our forest. I also played in the Pocket Theatre Piano Relay Team who perform Satie "Vexations" over a period of 18 hours. John was the most gentle of souls,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], yet devilishly clever in performance. During the dance,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], -"Antic Meet" John sat on stage at the side,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], opening very slowly…a champagne bottle. It was very hard to watch the dance.
