BOJ report sixth straight month of upgrade for economy
TOKYO, June 11 () -- Japan's central bank Tuesday delivered a positive assessment of the economy while deciding to maintain its aggressive monetary easing policy. The June assessment by the Bank of Japan, which was unanimous, was the sixth straight month of upgrade for the world's third largest economy, which is seeking to come out of its years of deflation. The BOJ issued its report after its monetary policy meeting."Japan's economy has been picking up," the bank said on its website, noting exports have started to pick up as overseas economies gradually improve. In its assessment last month, the bank said the economy "has started picking up" and Japanese exports "have stopped decreasing."The bank said business fixed investment continues to show resilience in non-manufacturing and "appears to have stopped weakening on the whole." It said public investment continues to increase, and housing investment "has generally been picking up." Private consumption has remained resilient, assisted by the improvement in consumer sentiment, the bank said. The bank's policy board also decided unanimously to maintain its two-month long easing policy to double the monetary base and of boosting purchases of government bonds to meet its inflation target of 2 percent to overcome deflation. The bank, christian louboutin men, however, said Japan's manufacturing sector continues to be lackluster. On inflation, the bank said: "Some indicators suggest a rise in inflation expectations."Going forward, supra skytop, the bank said Japan's economy is expected to "return to a moderate recovery path, mainly against the background that domestic demand increases its resilience due to the effects of monetary easing as well as various economic measures."
