FAYETTEVILLE, N.C., April 17 () -- An $86 million contract for tactical medical equipment and devices has been given to Combat Medical Systems by the U.S. Department of Defense. The Defense Logistics Agency, abercrombie outlet, which announced the award, said the contract is for five years and is specifically for its Medical Electronic Catalog that delivers medical equipment to U.S. military and federal agencies around the world."We are extremely proud to have been awarded this contract," said CMS President, Corey Russ. "ECAT is an important channel of procurement for our customers and continues to strengthen our relationship with the (Defense Department) and the other federal agencies we support."Equipment and devices covered are those developed by CMS for medics and first responders. Among them: its Mojo line of products and Combat Gauze, the AutoMedx SAVe ventilator, Vidacare EZ-IO Intraosseous devices and their AllEvac line of evacuation equipment offered with partner Ferno Military Systems."We listen intently to our end users and continue to work closely with military leaders, program managers and DLA in an effort to serve as a DOD partner in tactical medicine," Russ said. "We are confident that our collective efforts will continue to have a dramatic impact on the survival rate of our service members and federal agents who find themselves in harm's way."DLA says ECAT delivers more than $16 million of medical equipment and devices monthly.
