Henley's top rookie performance nets winHONOLULU, Jan. 13 () -- Russell Henley completed the lowest tournament score for a rookie in PGA history Sunday, notching a 7-under 63 to wrap up a three-stroke win at the Sony Open. Henley, who entered the final round in a two-way tie with fellow rookie Scott Langley, ended at 24-under-par 256 -- the best 72-hole mark ever turned in a first-year player. The mark smashed the tournament scoring record at Waialae Country Club in Hawaii by four strokes.Making only his third career PGA Tour start, the Macon, Ga., native's stellar effort also equalled the third-lowest tourney score overall in tour history.Finishing alone in second place at minus-21 was Tim Clark, who birdied the final four holes to match Henley with a 63.Langley, meanwhile, stumbled to an even-par 70 in the final round, finishing in third at 17-under 263 along with Charles Howell III (66).Sharing fifth place one shot further back were Matt Kuchar (65), Chris Kirk (66) and Brian Stuard (65).Rangers sign defenders Del Zotto, GilroyNEW YORK, Jan. 13 () -- New York Rangers said Sunday defensemen Michael Del Zotto and Matt Gilroy have signed contracts with the team as NHL training camps open. New York said Del Zotto, a restricted free agent with New York, has signed a two-year deal worth a reported $2.5 million per season. The former Rangers first-round draft choice recorded a pair of goals with eight assists in the 2012 playoffs during his postseason debut after a regular season in which he set career highs with 10 goals and 31 assists for 41 points.Meanwhile, ex-Rangers blueliner Gilroy returns to the team on a one-year deal after spending 2011-12 with the Tampa Bay Lightning and Ottawa Senators. He had a productive stint with the Connecticut Whale of the American Hockey League during the 113-day NHL lockout, logging six goals and nine assists in 34 games. The Rangers and other NHL teams opened training camps Sunday, following Saturday's ratification of a new collective bargaining agreement by the players' union. The camps will last through the week, followed on Jan. 19 with the start of a truncated, 48-game season concluding in late April.Oosthuizen rallies for European Tour winDURBAN, South Africa, Jan. 13 () -- Louis Oosthuizen came from five strokes behind Sunday, catching Scott Jamison and winning the European Tour's Volvo Golf Champions event in South Africa.Oosthuizen, despite a late bogey, shot a 6-under-par 66 in the final round for a 72-hole total of 16-under 272. Jamison, who entered the fourth round with a five-stroke lead, shot even-par 72 Sunday and was 15 under for the tournament.Thongchai Jaidee, who shot 68 Sunday, finished third overall at 14-under. Padraig Harrington came in fourth at 12-under and Danny Willett and Julien Quesne tied for fifth. Harrington and Willett each matched Jaidee's 68 Sunday while Quesne shot 71.Jamieson seemed in control with the big lead and birdies Sunday at Nos. 3 and 4 but he suffered a double bogey 6 at the fifth hole. He had 10 consecutive pars before a bogey at the 16th. A closing birdie got him back to even on the day.Meanwhile, Oosthuizen, who struggled with a six-bogey round that led to a 2-over 74 Saturday, pulled back into contention with birdies at 2 and 3 and two more at 6 and 8 in making the turn in 32.He added birdies at 10 and 11 that moved him into the lead. A birdie at the par-5 14th hole gave him a two-stroke cushion that survived his bogey at the 16th hole.It was the 10th professional win overall for Oosthuizen and sixth title on the European Tour. He has at least one European Tour win each year since 2010.Point leader Hirscher wins men's slalomADELBODEN, Switzerland, Jan. 13 () -- Marcel Hirscher of Austria won Sunday's men's World Cup slalom in Switzerland, moncler men, extending his lead in the overall points race.Hirscher turned in a two-run time of 1 minute, 51.75 seconds, gucci outlet online, 0.30 seconds faster than fellow Austrian Mario Matt. The victory gave Hirscher 855 points for the season.
