PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 17 () -- Sidney Crosby scored his sixth goal of the season as part of a dominating effort Thursday that brought the Pittsburgh Penguins a 4-1 victory over Philadelphia.The Flyers have lost four in a row and own a 1-7 record this season, their worst start through eight games in franchise history.After a scoreless first period, Jussi Jokinen and Chris Kunitz scored in the second to get the Penguins going. Crosby tipped in a shot with 2:32 to go in the third, giving him at least one point in all seven games this year.Evgeni Malkin finished the scoring with 13 seconds left in the third as Pittsburgh improved its record to 6-1.The only goal allowed by Marc-Andre Fleury came on the power play from Wayne Simmonds with just 2 seconds to go in the middle period. Fleury made 24 saves.Steve Mason stopped 31 shots for the Flyers, who have scored just 11 goals this season. |
